“The bugs love my hair, it has become a nest and rest stop for them. A bug diaspora living in my barnet, nestled up with my thoughts”.“Pebble dash and poised primitively, I wait, Deboned”.“I feel myself bending as much as plants do. The worms have me now”. “The camera loves me!”“Life is almost as peaceful as what I thought it would be, lying”.“Malleable body, why have you caught up to me?”“May I fall and you swallow me up. Let me at least leave an indent to show, I was here”.“I have become an unassuming object, hard to move unless told to. I lay here, I jumped into this position, I am comfortable”.A Lasting Impression, exhibited at the Truman Brewery. London, 2024
A Lasting Impression, 2024
‘A Lasting Impression is a flirtation with death and an ode to ‘L’inconnue de la Seine’ (The Unknown Woman of the Seine), a notorious muse to a plethora of artists, writers and photographers. Poetic, performative and playful, this body of work toys with the muse’s connection to a camera that enshrines them, and invites the viewer to breach the figurative, accessing an unsettling yet peaceful sanctum. A Lasting Impression posits the muse, so often invoked and consumed, a keyhole through which we may observe our own bodies and relations to presence’.
